About
So it all started over the kitchen counter…..? Noooo! In this modern century we are in, it actually got started via an online messaging application.
One ordinary mundane day, a group of friends were chatting as usual about how much they love vintage children's books, the beauty of the English language, the lost art of the classic illustration and the process of how books of the past were printed before the computer era. We agreed that vintage books can be priced reasonably and affordably. We decided to share our love for vintage children’s literature with like-minded people and hence, the birth of OOCS, Our Old Childhood Stories.
We first started selling on Instagram as OOCS3. One year on we decided to start up an online shop so our loyal customers do not have to go through the 'finger-fast frenzy' that is purchasing books on Instagram.
The team started with 3 but left with 2. Claire and Eve. Claire was a Primary school teacher and an avid book collector. She has two children and also does some private teaching when she is free. Eve used to work in retail management sector, has two boys and currently homeschooling them.
OOCS’ mission is to become a social enterprise. We currently donate 10% of our revenue to a local community project (Project Love Lunch) which helps feed the less fortunate children who usually go to bed hungry. We also dream about having our own charitable organisation that build libraries for children in developing countries. We hope to grow stronger and bigger so that we can extend our love to many different levels of the society.
the end.
